Costa Rica continues to project itself as a world tourism powerhouse by being selected as the best emerging destination in 2022, during the ninth edition of the Times and Sunday Times Travel Awards, an important award in tourism.
The Central American country’s commitment to sustainability, well-being, its multiple outdoor activities and its “pura vida” lifestyle were the reasons that made it deserve this important recognition.
The lofty volcanoes, its cloud forests, its tropical jungles, its beautiful beaches and the variety of animal species that inhabit this country were other reasons that made Costa Rica deserve this award.
Manuel Antonio National Park, Corcovado National Park, Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge and Tortuguero National Park, Playa Conchal and other Pacific and Guanacaste are some of the destinations that The Times and Sunday Times Travel Awards recommend visiting in Costa Rica.
The review also highlights the Costa Rican capital, where they recommend visiting the Amón neighborhood and its art gallery buildings, as well as the Escalante neighborhood, where you can enjoy exquisite cuisine.
According to the Costa Rican authorities, these awards are important since they project the country to the world, which allows attracting more tourists to the national territory.
According to the Costa Rican Tourism Institute, during the first semester of 2022, the country received 1,223,764 tourists, which corresponds to 71% of the visits registered in the same semester of 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic.
