Costa Rica the leading country in tourism in Central America

Costa Rica once again received the “Leading Destination” award for tourism in the Mexico and Central America regional category of the “World Travel Awards 2022”.
The country was also recognized as the leading adventure tourism destination in the region and received six other awards, including Best Ministry of Tourism, with the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT).

The “World Travel Awards 2022” awards are recognized worldwide as the “Oscars of Tourism” and give a strong boost to the countries that receive their recognition, since they have a high influence in the sector, for their annual recommendations of destinations to visit.

“It is a pride to know that Costa Rica was recognized as the leading destination and the best adventure destination in the region of Mexico and Central America, this within the framework of the World Travel Awards 2022. In addition, the Costa Rican Institute of Tourism was awarded as the best in the region in these awards,” said Alberto López, general manager of the ICT.

According to the Tourism Institute, these awards validate Costa Rica’s commitment to its sustainable, inclusive and innovative tourism model, focused on generating social progress in communities and therefore it is a challenge for the country to continue striving to offer experiences unique for tourists in the midst of natural settings and with a solid and constantly improving tourist platform.

The World Travel Awards were created in 1993 to recognize the excellence of different services associated with travel and tourism.

The winners are chosen through an online vote in which tourism professionals, businessmen in the sector and world travelers participate.

This 2022 Costa Rica has received various awards worldwide for its high tourism potential and its environmental policy.

Nature, its beautiful beaches, the kindness of its inhabitants and the tourist development of Costa Rica have made the country recognized worldwide as the jewel of Central America.
